“I began to shop at Martyn’s in Muswell Hill in 1975, and lived in Highgate – my coffee roasted to order on a regular basis. Then I moved to Lincolnshire 20 years ago, I still got the coffee on a regular basis individually roasted and it was sent to me by courier impeccably packed and promptly sent when I asked for it. Each Christmas the dried fruit for my wife to make the Christmas cake again to order – impeccable prompt service and superb dried fruit. The prices are reasonable and the carriage to Henley on Thames very very reasonable – all in all courtesy, efficiency, promptness and the best roasted coffee beans in the UK ! This purveyor of fine foods with the internet and courier service means that the finest grocer is only a click away !”
“Since moving away from Muswell Hill, we have taken to buying our W.Martyn’s coffee from their online shop, paying directly into their bank account at the same time. A friendly delivery of coffee – perfectly ground for our filter machine – follows within a day or two at the most. Very quick, hugely convenient and completely fool proof ! Our purchases are varied. At the top of the range we go for Skybury, a very toothsome brew; in the middle, Dominican is delicious; and when we feel the need for a little economy – Breakfast blend goes down a treat. The tasting notes are a great guide when we decide on some experimentation.”
The coffee is great, the delivery service prompt. I am happy with the service and coffee.
“We have been purchasing coffee beans via mail order from W.Martyn for over five years. Their telephone ordering service is friendly and efficient and the beans always arrive fresh and extremely promptly. Looking back over my invoices from the company I only found one mistake, which they had rectified immediately without my even noticing!”
“Best coffee ! I will travel miles to get it. They will mail it too, but I like to visit the store.”
“I always visit Martyn’s when I’m in the area. Coffee is superb.”
“I think your lapsang tea is the best ever, and I am greatly enjoying your camomile flower bags, I now drink so much of it, I will probably have to order some more.”
“Oh I love, love, love this place! When you enter the store, it feels turning the clock back about a hundred years or so: the smell of fresh-roasted and ground coffee beans; the dark wooden shelves stocked to the brim with typical English delicacies and the staff with their old-time aprons…
This place is not only ideal for finding presents for your friends or colleagues, but it’s also great to treat yourself. This is what I would recommend: try out their jams and chutneys; in fact, you just pick the ones with the “Gold Taste Award” label then you shouldn’t go wrong…they really deserve that award!
And even if you don’t need anything…I’m almost sure you wouldn’t walk out this store empty-handedly…it’s that good!”

“Great little deli. You will find large assortment of sauces, dips, chutneys, marmalades, teas etc. But probably the best thing is the coffee. Try their special blends and I don’t think you will go anywhere else anymore…”
